The Antica Masseria is a typical and extraordinary rural construction, symbol and monument of rural culture dating back to 1856. Surrounded by 2,000 hectares of forests in the archaeological natural park, on the Ganzaria Mountain, dominating for almost 3 centuries, the Plain of Gela. The historic ensemble, built in the heart of Sicily, from Guccione Baron Andrea, Palermo, was built with stones and local materials, thus becoming a big farm or a farm which offered accommodation to farmers used for the preparation or cultivation of surrounding land. Detected in 1996 and expertly restored by the Golino Family, Vecchia Masseria, recovers its old splendour. The careful and meticulous restoration work began in 2000 and was to be completed in 2002. For the restoration of the rural structure and the recovery of the land, eco-friendly materials were used, respecting the environment and its history. Its interior has walls decorated with water paintings, stone, wood, Sicilian terracotta, pottery and wrought iron. Today, the Old Farmhouse, Rural Historic Landmark 4-star, is entirely family-owned, managed by Rider Stefano Golino, chef, and her son Philippe Golino, corporate executive.
