Torre Normanna ★★★

Province of Palermo/ Altavilla Milicia

Easy to reach due to its proximity to the Palermo / Messina Catania, Alta Villa is 20 km. from Palermo center in the City of Altavilla Milicia, a small town founded by the Normans around 1060 after the defeat of the Arab conquest of the island.

The name refers to the its location, on a hill which overlooks the passage and the sea from Capo Zafferano Cefalu.

The Altavillesi are very devoted to the Madonna della Milicia (who bears a striking resemblance to the Madonna della Loreto), her miraculous event and the picture which depicts it, because it is the cornerstone of popular religiosity. She is celebrated on the 8th of September with pilgrimages and offerings from all over the province. From inside the Sanctuary there is access to the Museum which contains a rich collection of Voto Fatto Grazia Ricevuta (Votives for graces received).

There are even kilometres of beaches and a large nature reserve. The most exclusive beach is reserved for our guests, as there is no other access to the inside of the Hotel, unless you arrive by sea. The beach is dominated by a tower of Norman orgin, from which the complex takes its name, “Torre Normanna”.

It is a handy starting point for a variety of fascinating excursions: – Palermo and Monreale; Cefalu; Aeolian Islands; Agrigento, Segesta, Selinunte; Etna Taormina: Theatres, Museums and the Cinema in Palermo can be reached in around thirty minutes.

The hotel boasts 143 rooms, furnished in a pleasant contemporary style, they offer a shower or bath, cable and satellite TV, direct dial telephone, central air conditioning, balcony, mini-bar, hairdryer, safe and beautiful view and sea view. Junior suites and connecting rooms available.
