Targa Florio Country House Province of Palermo/Aliminusa Today Agriturismo La Targa Florio, in addition to producing artichokes, olive oil, tomatoes, wheat, bread and pasta, even produces electricity with its 42Kw photovoltaic plants- 200 panels architecturally integrated into the existing building structure, which produce 60,000 kilowatts of energy per year, thus avoiding the emission into the air of about 35 tons of carbon dioxide (the main greenhouse gas). With this plant, the company fully achieves self-sufficiency, making it increasingly sustainable at manufacturing its own products.
In addition, the farm’s water is heated through a solar thermal system made up of panels 4 and 2 boiler, heating approximately 600 liters of water, again avoiding the release of toxic substances into the air and contributing to the natural environment.
We also take special care to recycle and separate wet waste in a special composter (which becomes humus), paper and board in a special container, with glass, aluminum and plastic in normal bins, in conjunction with a licensed company that provides integrated waste management.
