The ‘Refuge’ Ariel is a welcoming venue located in Contrada Serra La Nave – south of Mount Etna, some 1700m above sea level, in the municipality of Ragalna.
Surrounded by a centuries-year-old wood, it is only 4km from the ski slopes. The track to the mountain begins only 200m from its gates.
Due to its location, the Refuge Ariel is the ideal place to relax, go mountain biking, hiking, cross country skiing or ski touring.
It is open as a ‘refuge’ all year round. Reservations are necessary.
The refuge Ariel offers tourists a range of services. You can stay alone or in groups, taking advantage of all possible amenities although we are in the middle of the countryside. In addition to the accommodation Ariel offers catering and equipment rental and will organise excursions on your behalf.
RENTAL SERVICES
The refuge Ariel can rent all material for hiking you may need. We also have 12 mountain bikes for hire and there is a possibility for guided tours with our shuttle service. In winter you can rent snowshoes.
CATERING
As a traditional mountain Refuge, soups and stews stuffed with polenta are our specialty. The restaurant is open on Sundays and public holidays. It is also possible to organise dinners with friends for birthdays and other special occasions. The menu is ‘fixed’ and booking is recommended.
