Masseria Rocca di Gonato

Province of Palermo/Castelbuono

The Masseria Rocca di Gonato is a magic place located among the woods overlooking the town of Castelbuono ( PA) – close to Cefalù.

It is a rural venue realized in a XIIth Century property by a project of the engineer Mr Filippo Botta and his partners Mr. Giuseppe Martorana and Mr. Pietro Faila. They renovated this property, which is located in the Regional Park of Madonie, a few kilometres from the town of Castelbuono and close to the small towns of Cefalù, Le Petralie and Piano Battaglia.

Formerly it was a 1200’s convent built by the Basilian monks, followers of Saint Basil the Great. The monks moved to Gonato and re-built the convent. They dedicated themselves to growing vegetables, recovering a local wooded area and creating a copper and bronze foundry.

Nowadays, it is a tourist accommodation with 15 spacious rooms, some meeting rooms, a dining room where you can taste the Chef specialties and the typical products of the Madonie region such as meats, cheese, vegetables, and wine. Moreover there is a pampering SPA where guests can spend some wonderfully relaxing moments revitalizing the mind and the body.
