Contea di Wagner Hotel

Province of Catania/Ramacca

The Contea di Wagner has a fascinating history that dates back to the 1800’s.  Situated in the rural countryside of Catania it is surrounded by the scents of orange blossoms and lush citrus groves, which form its backdrop.

German composer Richard Wagner lived in this village and became captivated bythe charm of the places and the hospitality of its inhabitants and from its ‘eternal spring’ that he was moved to compose ‘The Hymn of The Harvesters’ which became such an integral part of Parsifal.  A tombstone was later laid in the village in memory of the composer.

The village is rich in tradition and history and has retained its charm and simplicity.  Restoration has been sympathetically respectful of the rural architecture of the past.

Our rooms are independent and are each dedicated to a Classical composer tied to Richard Wagner.  They all boast a private entrance, digital TV, air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom (with hairdryer).  The rooms are furnished with charm and original period furniture of the Sicilian era.
