The Casette del Porto are holiday houses obtained from the renovation of the old houses of the fishermen and are located within the historic seaman area of Sciacca, that is still inhabited by fishermen and its streets and alleys are dotted with fish – canning companies and warehouses for the accommodation of fishing nets.
Sciacca is the second fishing navy in Sicily. Sciacca harbour is a very characteristic port: in the night the boats go out fishing. Between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. the boats come back full of fish and sell them directly to the dock, just below the apartment. In the other hours the harbour becomes quiet and peaceful. There is a succession of frenetic rhythm and peaceful quiet.
