The Restaurant Coria was born in 2008 in the historical centre of Caltagirone – heritage of UNESCO – 200 metres from the famous stairway of Santa Maria del Monte.
It is dedicated to Colonel Giuseppe Coria, author of the excellent book about the Sicilian gastronomy: “Scents of Sicily.” In it, through the dedication and love that unites us all in Sicily, the writer tells us about an island with unique fragrances and colours, with enchanting beauty, a land where food and culture are linked, but in contrast, with each other at the same time.
Creators of the project are two young chefs, Domenico Colonnetta and Francesco Patti who, after years of experience in some of the best Sicilian kitchens, including the restaurant “Duomo” of Ragusa, wisely decided to bet on their ability to amaze those who want to enjoy good food, offering in every dish the flavours of the tradition with a contemporary twist.
Since 2009 the restaurant has been reviewed by the most prestigious food guides such as Gambero Rosso, L’Espresso, Il Sole 24 ore, and in 2012 was awarded the prestigious Michelin Star: first and only place in the province of Catania.
Restaurant Coria consists of two cosy rooms furnished with taste and attention to detail. A special feature is the kitchen, which the Chefs have chosen not to hide but to make themselves visible to the guests, creating a channel for transferring, even visually, commitment and passion you will find in every dish.
